Steve Lacy Atlanta Concert reviews
none of the classics!
Steve Lacy performed flawlessly as usual, but they were also "sales pitching" their new album during the whole show. All of my friends, even the media, and the real Steve Lacy fans were complaining that the show lacked Steve Lacy's big hits, the songs that made them famous, and the songs that we all want to hear.
We left because they played so much new stuff. I never thought anyone would walk out on a Steve Lacy show, especially me. They've been my favorite for over 25 years, and I own all of their stuff.
We got suckered into joining a fan club so we could pre-buy seats, but all of the front rows were already gone before sales even opened! And then, everyone else got seats just as good as ours without joining the club!
For the first time, it seemed all about money, not the music. Dickenson kept trying to sell the new album throughout the show. I went with 20 die-hard Steve Lacy fans, and none of us would go see them again unless we had the set list in advance. I also wouldn't purchase any of their merchandise anymore now that I see how important the dollar is to them.
This was like Judas Priest without Breaking the law, Zepplin without Stairway, ACDC without Hells Bells.
